Approach.

We’re naturally resilient, but it can be hard to see ourselves sometimes when we’re stuck. Having another person to bounce things off of is freeing–it’s healing. So what does therapy look like? It’s usually a process of being heard, seen and cared about.

Counselling is a collaborative process and a safe place to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others. My role is in helping you tap into your own inner resources to find the answers that are right for you.

Working with a therapist can provide insight, support, and enhanced strategies for dealing with many of life’s issues. My approach is rooted in person-centred theory, although I work in an integrative way, meaning I bring together elements from different therapies.

My style is warm, pragmatic and realistic to the demands of life and informed by the latest thinking on wellbeing and mental health. Counselling is a place where you can speak freely; you will also find humour, compassion and acceptance.

How it Works.

The best results from therapy come when you are open and honest and share how you are really feeling.

Research shows that the most important factor for successful outcomes in therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist. How we work together and if you feel safe and at ease and able to disclose difficult and sensitive issues. Including giving honest feedback about how you’re finding therapy.

There are many different types of therapists, you need someone you can trust and feel comfortable talking with. It can be a good idea to look around before deciding on a therapist or change to another one if you feel unsure about who you are working with.

A session is 50 minutes in duration and is typically weekly, dependant on your requirements and what you are hoping to achieve. I work on both a short term and long term basis.
